ILP Participation-Online Resume Professional Development

Hello, this week I have taken a step in preparing for my professional development. I took an online resume building workshop. This workshop took me through videos that described each step to  take in building my resume. It was extremely helpful. I have learned how to make a resume, and I have successfully made one. Now I plan to meet with a career advisor at the career center, so that I can get some in person feedback on how to edit my resume. I used Microsoft word to create this resume like the video said, and now I am on my way to being ready to use it in the near future. Here is a link to my voice thread describing my experience: https://voicethread.com/share/12181501/

Hello again! This week I have been exploring different technologies and school websites. When looking at school websites, I looked at Roberts Elementary School. On their school website they have a separate page for each teacher. On the front page there is information about upcoming events, announcements, school contact information, and important documents, etc. When I actually click a teacher’s page, I would have to sign in. There are tabs on each teacher website such as: meet the teacher, student resources, announcements, important documents, and class calendar. If I could sign in, I would be able to see all of this information. This school is K-5 th and is located in Tallahassee. Here is the link:  https://www.leonschools.net/roberts Moving onto the topic of technology, last week I took a class visit to the technology sandbox, which I had no clue even existed. It was a really informative experience and I got to earn about some technology that was new to me. I got to see a 3D p...

Hello again! This week I have begun to use a technology called Diigo, which is completely new to me. I had never heard of this Web 2.0 tool, but I have really enjoyed exploring it and trying to learn the ins and outs of this program. I still have a lot to learn about this program, and I will definitely be working on that in the weeks to come. So far, I know how to bookmark a webpage and share it. These are things, I feel confident doing, and as I use Diigo more I will continue to pick up new skills.  Well, now that I have been blogging for several weeks, I think I have the hang of it. I know how to operate my site, and I can quickly and easily create and publish a post. I enjoy using blogger as my site and if I was someone who loved to write, then I would probably keep blogging and use this technology often. There isn’t really anything about the blogging process that stands out to me as difficult. I have visited a few other sites too, and their blogs look relatively similar and ...

I can’t believe we are already well into February and the semester is flying by. I have been using Twitter this semester, which is a new technology for me. It has been pretty easy to figure out how to use, and I have been interacting primarily with educational accounts. Since this is an account I have made for school, I decided to keep it just for this purpose and to see what I can learn about being an educator. I have read some cool tweets and interesting articles from various educator accounts. I can see this being beneficial for teachers to learn from others, get new ideas and to share what they have learned and are doing in their classrooms. This creates a community of educators learning and collaborating to grow themselves and benefit their students.              The digital divide is a term that explains the discrepancy of technology use and how not all individuals have co...

In the future I would like to teach kindergarten, and when looking at the ELA technology standards for Kindergarten, there is only one. I feel pretty competent in my technology skills that I could teach the kindergarteners how to use a smart board and use programs such as Paint. The only thing from this list that I would need to learn how to use beforehand would be StoryJumper. I have never heard of this program, but I think I could probably pick up on it fast. Kindergarten is a very developmental year and is crucial to learning. All of my technology skills will come in handy when teaching the kindergarteners how to do all of the basics, even things such as how to log on to a computer.              When looking at the CPALMS Kindergarten Educator toolkit, I see a lot of helpful resources and games that the kids could play to improve their skills. One of the resources I would use would be the Curious George-hide and seek...
