EME 2040-Blog #10
I found the survey and data collection to be very simple. The only problem that I encountered is that sometimes people don’t respond or take the survey(s) right away. As a kindergarten teacher, I do not foresee myself using surveys with my young class, but I could definitely see how a survey could come in handy with the parents. I could send out a survey to see when parents could come help in the classroom, a field trip, or a party. I could also send out a parent survey to find out how the parents perceive their kids understanding of homework. This could be very helpful in finding out if my students and I are on the same page. Lastly, Excel could be very helpful in keeping things organized and to have an online copy of my students’ grades. These two educational technology tools are very helpful and can be applied to many different things in various classrooms.
After reviewing a few of my classmates’ blogs, I found that many of them had very similar experiences as me. In Nicole’s blog I really enjoyed reading about her first independent learning project. She completed an activity on Lynda.com and learned about different educational technologies, which can be very helpful to know as a future educator. Another classmates blog that I enjoyed browsing was Shae’s. I think it is awesome that she has had prior experience with website making, and it was very clear when looking at her website. Her class website is very well put together and it looks like an actual school website a teacher may have. I think that all of my classmates have provided an interesting and inside look on our class through the use of blogging.
Although blogging has been a great educational tool, the next technology related skill I want to pursue is iMovie. When I was in high school, one of my volleyball coaches used iMovie to make me a recruiting video and it turned out amazing. I would like to learn how to work iMovie because I want to make a recruiting video for my little sister. She currently plays indoor volleyball and is interested in playing in college. I will first practice some and self-teach myself with the help of YouTube and Google to improve my skills. After some practice I will start making my little sister a recruiting video and hopefully it will turn out similar to mine.
